What If We’ve Got It All Wrong

Do you ever stop and wonder
If those things you think you know
Are predisposed to assumption
Conditioned thoughts that flow
Out of a line of processes
That construct along the way
Foundations that may turn out to be
So incorrect one day

For if that was the case then
All that we had leant would
Not be the way we thought it was
Nor stand the way it stood
And suddenly our world would be
Turned Inside out for sure
And upside down; somewhat confused
As facts became so flawed

For the base of all the theories
Our hypotheses and such
Would end up being nonsense
And not add up to much
And postulation, conjecture
Would’ve been false all along
But if that was the case would we
Admit that we were wrong?

Would we have an open mind set?
Would we let creative thought
Be flexible to turn things round
And make them as they ought
To have been in the first place
Correct those failed ideas
Or would we continue the pretence
Let it run for year on year

For insights come but once a while
And often are rebuffed
By those who think that they know best
Say “Now that is quite enough!”
“Don’t question what we know for sure
Don’t disrespect those who
Know all there is to know for they
Know so much more than you”

And with these grand dismissals
The font of knowledge grows
From what has gone before based on
What everyone else knows
Lest daring to audaciously
Question the rank and file
With queries that may then reveal
They were wrong all the while

So ….

Do you ever stop and wonder
If those things you think you know
Are predisposed to assumption
Conditioned thoughts that flow
Out of a line of processes
That construct along the way
Foundations that may turn out to be
So incorrect one day

Dreams

Dreams past reality
Yonder the given
Deeper than slumber
Outside yet within
Further; farther; untouchable
And yet almost tangible in their existence

Dreams past reality
Unconsious existence
Being unfathomable
Surreal and bizarre
Images, emotions, sensations
And yet accommodating desire’s ether

Dreams past reality
Beyond consciousness
Intrinsic phenomena
Conscious insights
Manifesting parallel illusions
And yet expressing a heart’s core content

Reality Lives

What happened to our private lives?
That stayed behind the door
The lives that lived out day to day
Where washing wasn’t for
Displaying on the laundry line
For one and all to see
What happened to those private lives?
The things of privacy

For now it seems our lives are all
Out in the public eye
Lived out upon the big display
Where there is no standby
Switch on the box and there we are
Or there we’d like to be
Those beings that we have become
Reality TV!

From Oprah to a man named Kyle
Addictions to such things
Just suck us in to then subscribe
To others’ suffering
Or in the name of X Factor
We look to find a star
But through all this we can forget
Just what and who we are

For safe to say you can become
Just who you want to be
But it is done through quiet resolve
Not plastered on TV
Nor any other media
Who offer you quick fame
But by quiet steady devotion
To play life’s living game

So don’t be fooled to think that you
Will make it to the top
By surrendering your privacy
With novelty hip hop!
But set about to plan a path
On which you want to go
Then persevere and dedicate
Your will to make it so!

What is Reality?

She felt it, saw it, heard it
Smelt it, tasted it as well
But on reflection was it really there?
She really couldn’t tell!

She searched and she pondered
She tried to understand
Why it had been there in that breath
But gone at sleight of hand

She swore it had been present
She thought she’d seen it with her eyes
But it couldn’t be determined
In a state now to realise

To realise into reality
But there she hit the wall
For is reality perception?
Or just an illusion after all?

What is Truth?

Is it a subjective perception?
And objective persuasion?
A relative representation?
Or an absolute incarnation?
Does it fit with coherence?
Or correspond to an actual state?
Has it been construed by Man?
Perhaps a consensus of opinion in debate?

If the pieces can be verified
In practice is this true?
Does it require a minimalist viewpoint
To interpret and get through?
Or can the truth be performed
Through a statement that is clear?
Or implied in pluralistic terms
Combining different vectors and ideas?

So the veracity of truism
Depends upon your base,
Not just in physical positioning
More so in the metaphorical place.
Maybe truth is a perception
Maybe it’s not so very clear
For to discern if there is truth involved
Is to take a stand from far and near.

To look from other angles,
To not subscribe to blame,
To ascertain the reasoning,
Put responsibility in the frame.
To question and re-question
To consider all the views,
For the truth that you consider true
May look very different in another’s shoes.
