A Moment

I sail away across the plain
From daydreams pleasant shores
On boat of blossom in the breeze
O’re fields of green decor
Midst heavens kiss upon the earth
In rolls of clear blue sky
And all is pure tranquility
Such peace and calm the prize

I drift into another realm
Where memories float too
My present vision; bright and clear
As each one comes in view
And cross my face a smile spreads out
For joy such as this is
Has grace bestowed so endlessly
Unbounded happiness.

I see a bird upon the wing
A swallow and a lark
And glance a pheasant strut on by
In the distance – a dog barks
I spot the hawthorn burst it’s bud
A yellow daffodil
Trumpet in silence on the verge
Announcing the spring bill

And though soon I must go back to
The realms of reality
I take this moment, lap it up
Refresh that inner me
For there is nothing greater than
The chance to sit; admire
Nature at her fresh very best
And feel so much inspired

Sweet Dreams

I close my eyes and go to sleep
Content or so it seems
Able to drift into a world
Of slumberific dreams
Where fairies dwell and good folk live
In perfect harmony
So odds with what this world gives out
Or is this only me
Who find the folk who bicker and
Who argue and who moan
A tiresome bunch with so much hate
Making all others groan?

And so on the train to sleep-so-tight
I yawn and shut my eyes
And leave this world to find a place
Where goodness never dies
Where people seem to get along
Where kindness is what’s found
Where truth and love and joy survive
And happiness abounds
So when the sun comes up again
Birds chorus with delight
I feel refreshed and feel renewed
From such a peaceful night

Legacy

Life is the incubator of the spirit. A chrysalis nurtured in the body until it is released as a butterfly in the final breath into the blue. The essence, the soul, the spirit, fluttering through eternity on the cerulean wings of memories and visible in the traits passed from one generation to the next. This is our legacy making the difference a cocoon at a time.

Cycle of Life

I sit and think life’s like a stream
All bubbling and clear
In early days when youth burns bright
Before the middle years
When brook turns into river broad
With depth and span from all
Experiences that we have had
Before we reach the fall
Of life; autumnal years spread out
Where estuary feeds into
The oceans sea that stretches out
Towards eternal view
Whence spirit will evaporate
Up to the skies above
And drops of memories will reign
In you and me with love

P

Be True To You

Each with their own unique selling point
That special piece in the jigsaw
Without which there can not be completeness.
Like the sun shining her luminous light
Or the Earth as the powerhouse of life
For if either were another
All else could cease to exist

Pickled Positivity

Keep a bottle always handy
So your glass remains half full
Or better still topped to the brink
Ensuring that the pull
Is a creed of opportunity
The can do, will do way
That sees a path through everything
For bright positive days

Dedicated to a good friend and my number one fan and fellow OU buddy.  Have a great day čÖé

What If We’ve Got It All Wrong

Do you ever stop and wonder
If those things you think you know
Are predisposed to assumption
Conditioned thoughts that flow
Out of a line of processes
That construct along the way
Foundations that may turn out to be
So incorrect one day

For if that was the case then
All that we had leant would
Not be the way we thought it was
Nor stand the way it stood
And suddenly our world would be
Turned Inside out for sure
And upside down; somewhat confused
As facts became so flawed

For the base of all the theories
Our hypotheses and such
Would end up being nonsense
And not add up to much
And postulation, conjecture
Would’ve been false all along
But if that was the case would we
Admit that we were wrong?

Would we have an open mind set?
Would we let creative thought
Be flexible to turn things round
And make them as they ought
To have been in the first place
Correct those failed ideas
Or would we continue the pretence
Let it run for year on year

For insights come but once a while
And often are rebuffed
By those who think that they know best
Say “Now that is quite enough!”
“Don’t question what we know for sure
Don’t disrespect those who
Know all there is to know for they
Know so much more than you”

And with these grand dismissals
The font of knowledge grows
From what has gone before based on
What everyone else knows
Lest daring to audaciously
Question the rank and file
With queries that may then reveal
They were wrong all the while

So ….

Do you ever stop and wonder
If those things you think you know
Are predisposed to assumption
Conditioned thoughts that flow
Out of a line of processes
That construct along the way
Foundations that may turn out to be
So incorrect one day
